ELIGIBILITY

  • Must have a documented disability

  • Attending/Completed High School (or equivalent)

  • Scholarship recipient need not be a high school senior, but may be anyone pursuing higher education, regardless of graduation date from high school

  • Minimum 2.5 Grade Point Average or equivalent 

  • Acceptance letter from post-secondary institution

CRITERIA

Students must submit along with the completed application:

  • 1000 word personal essay stating how living with your disability has shaped your view of the world and you.

  • Two (2) letters of recommendation from a teacher, clergy, guidance administrator, supervisor, etc.

  • Current high school transcripts

  • Placement Scores

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications are due on or before August 1st, 2022.

  • The selection of students receiving scholarships is administered by the Jon Thomas Russell Scholarship Committee. Serious candidates may be asked to participate in a face-to-face interview.

  • When awarded, students receiving scholarships will be notified and each student will be awarded directly.

  • The $1,000 scholarship is divided between the fall and spring semesters, with $500 being awarded prior to the fall semester.

  • Students are eligible for the remaining $500 of their $1000 scholarship if they obtain a passing status in all registered classes and remain in good standing.

  • Students awarded scholarships will be asked to report academic transcripts following each active semester as a scholarship recipient.
